Celebrating 25 Years of Impact – And Funding the Future Together
In 2000, a new community foundation was founded in North Yorkshire and York with a simple but powerful belief: grassroots initiatives know best how to strengthen their communities. With even a small grant, they can create real, lasting change for local people.
2010 saw us extend our region to include Hull and East Yorkshire, rebranding as Two Ridings Community Foundation. (The two Ridings of North and East Yorkshire combined, get it?)
By 2019 we’d distributed 10 million across the region.
Now, in 2025, we’re proud to be celebrating 25 years of supporting communities and creating impact across Yorkshire.
Over the past quarter-century, thanks to the generosity of our donors and the dedicated work of community groups, we’ve invested more than £23 million in over 7,000 grassroots projects across York, Hull, North & East Yorkshire and beyond—supporting children and young people, tackling loneliness, helping communities recover from flooding and other crises, and driving innovative, local solutions to some of our region’s biggest challenges.
But this isn’t just a time to look back— it’s about boldly stepping into the future.
The Next 25 Years Start Now
As we mark 25 years, our commitment to Yorkshire’s people and places is stronger than ever. Our communities are evolving—and so is our mission. We’re looking ahead with renewed energy and a bold vision to support even more local changemakers, ensuring no one is left behind.
That’s why we’ve launched the 25th Anniversary Appeal—to raise £250,000 and reach a major milestone: £25 million invested in Yorkshire’s communities.
Every donation—whether £25, £250, or £25,000—will help us support more community action, strengthen local resilience, and shape a brighter, more inclusive future for Yorkshire people.
A Year of Celebration and Hope
We’re marking this milestone with a flagship celebration on 1st October in York—a night of stories, inspiration, and connection. Community leaders, donors, partners, and friends will come together to honour 25 years of impact and launch the next chapter of our journey.
We’re also capturing this moment in a truly special way—with a Community Time Capsule, filled with memories, hopes, and voices from across the region. Sealed in 2025 and opened in 2050, it will be a powerful reminder of what’s possible when people come together to create change.
